On July 16 the College of Education of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (CED MSU-IIT), was recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a 'Center of Excellence for Teacher Education'.
The Philippine University has been an implementing partner of the Intel® Teach Program since 2002.
Working with local governments, the Intel Teach Program aims to build students’ 21st century learning through quality teaching. Under the program, K-12 teachers learn the best ways to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) tools and resources into their own lessons for students.
Dr. Esmar Sedurifa, Dean, College of Education commented “The Intel Teach Program contributed greatly to the recognition given to the CED MSU-IIT as a Center of Excellence through its continuous faculty development and extension programs to the nearby communities under the Intel Teach Community of Learning”.
"The Intel Teach Program provided us continuous opportunity to create strategies on improving our curriculum and delivery of instruction in our college," added Ms. Amelia Buan, Intel Teach Senior Trainer from MSU-IIT. As a ‘Center of Excellence’, MSU-IIT can apply for funding assistance for student scholarships, faculty development, library and laboratory upgrading, research and extension services, instructional materials development, and networking.
The recognition as a 'Centre of Excellence' is given to both public and private higher education institutions (HEIs) which have demonstrated the highest degree or level of standards along the areas of instruction, research and extension. They provide institutional leadership in all aspects of development in specific areas of discipline in the various regions by providing networking arrangements to help ensure the accelerated development of HEIs in their respective service areas.
