Intel Launches Groundbreaking Teach Initiative in Sabaragamuwa Province

On 21 April 2009, Intel - in collaboration with the Secondary Education Modernization Project (SEMP) of the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka - launched the latest phase of the Intel Education initiative in Ratnapura district, situated in the country’s south.

The Intel Teach program has made tremendous headway in Sri Lanka, having already been successfully introduced to the Western, Central and Uva provinces last year. Over 7,500 teachers have been trained under this program across the country.

Mr Anura Dissanayake, SEMP Project Director of the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka said: “With the help of Intel’s programs, we are looking forward to creating a virtuous e-society in Sri Lanka. Through technology training and enablement, teachers will be better equipped to enrich the learning experience of their students. Together, we will change the lifestyles of young Sri Lankans of the future.”
