Intel Family Day

On 2009, Sep. 19th, Intel Taiwan provided a colorful childhood event for its employees and their families. Over 300 people soaked in the different interesting Games, such as Whacky sports, video games, puzzles, and drawing one-on-one game. And this year Intel Taiwan also invited 35 children from Yi-Lan Center of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families to join with us. Due to the lack of caring parents and sufficient resources, TFCF children rarely have chance to go field trip or amusement park to play latest new game. Thus, through this event, both Intel families and TFCF children had a pleasant and fun day. And the most important impact of this cooperation is that “Intel Family Day” inspires employees to put more attention on child poverty and abused issues.

Intel Taiwan started the Volunteer Matching Grant Program (VMGP) in November 2007, and in 2008 Intel Taiwan starts to expand scale of VMGP program, focusing on preserving environment, saving the world hunger and helping kids from the poor families. In environment preserving, Intel Taiwan will continue working with SOW on beach cleanup. Intel Taiwan also works with World Vision Taiwan and Taiwan Fund for Children and Families to save the world hungers and help kids from poor families. Through volunteer experience sharing, Intel Taiwan wants to encourage more involvement from employees and turn the vision of being responsible and effective corporate citizen into common practice.

In 2007 Intel Taiwan commenced the IIMGP by visiting Nan-Shan Elementary School on a monthly basis and helping with wall painting, fixing PCs and playing basketball and Frisbee with the students. Intel volunteers also organized flea markets to be held at the school, with flea market goods donated by Intel employees. Through one school year visiting, Intel Taiwan employees had spent over 1300 hrs in the school and the school received the US$13,120.00 cash donation from Intel Foundation. It’s the biggest amount of donation the school ever received! In 2009, Intel Taiwan continues to visit and help another remote school-San-Mine Elementary School.

All members of the club are trained to become better volunteers by non-profit and NGO employees and got certificates. Intel Taiwan also has plans to expand the IIMGP to promote and encourage further Intel employee involvement in social engagement and environmental protection.
