The USB 2.0 patch (ver 5.1.2600.41) for Windows* XP included on the Intel® Express Installer CD is only able to install on English, German, and Japanese language versions of Windows XP. Each USB 2.0 patch is language specific e.g. ONLY the German USB 2.0 patch will install under German Windows XP. Attempting to install the USB 2.0 patch under other languages results in “An installation component failure occurred" error message. Not installing the USB 2.0 patch before installing the USB 2.0 Driver for Windows* XP may result in unreliable computer operation and/or reduced performance.

Resolution: New Express Installer CD's with the USB 2.0 patch for Windows XP patch that support additional languages have been shipping with the boards listed above since May 20, 2002. Customers who received boards without the corrrect language version of the USB 2.0 patch for Windows XP can download the full 24 language patch using the Web Update feature on the Express Installer CD or by visiting the web at:
