The Intel® SpeedStep™ Technology Verification
and Branding Utility (ISTV&BU) will not be
supported after March 4, 2002. The utility will not
be available to download from the Intel website and
all links will be removed.
The driver will still be provided by the vendor
for Microsoft Windows* 98SE, Windows* 98 ME,
Windows* NT, and Windows* 2000 operating systems.
Windows* XP includes drivers in the operating
system and does not require separate software from
the vendor.
The Intel SpeedStep Technology Verification and
Branding Utility should not be confused with the
driver and battery saving functionality. A laptop
requires three elements to enable the battery
saving feature to function correctly:
- A supported processor
- A supported platform
- The driver from the vendor
The Intel SpeedStep Technology Verification and
Branding Utility was only available on the Intel
website. Vendor agreement to comply with trademark
usage restrictions was agreed to by clicking on a
"Click to Accept" button on the web page prior to
downloading the utility. Since the utility is no
longer available, the vendors can not use the
trademark with Mobile Intel Pentium® 4 Processor-M.
Refer to the laptop manufacturer's documentation
for supported processors and Intel SpeedStep
Technology support.
