When Intel® Active Monitor (v1.13 and earlier) and the Intel ATA Storage Driver (v6.10 and later) are installed on Pentium® 4 Processor based systems running Microsoft* Windows* 2000, an intermittent black screen (system will not POST) may occur on power up. The root cause for this black screen/No POST condition is a timing issue with the SMBus driver in the Intel Active Monitor.
To restore the system to normal operation, remove all power by unplugging the power cord from the system for no less than 15 seconds. When power is re-stored the system should boot normally. After Microsoft* Windows* 2000 fully boots, uninstall Intel Active Monitor (v.1.13 and earlier).
