Legacy Support for USB devices with Intel® Desktop Boards D850MD and D850MV
September 2001
SUMMARY:
Legacy support for USB devices (keyboard) is not
available via all USB ports on desktop boards
D850MD and D850MV. The USB ports next to the Audio
connector do not support legacy USB mode. However,
the USB ports next to the PS/2 and the USB ports
routed to the Front Panel USB header do support
legacy USB functionality.
DETAILS:
If you plan to use a USB keyboard with desktop
boards D850MD and D850MV, please select the USB
ports high-lighted green in the Figure 1 below or
USB ports that may be available via the Front Panel
USB header. These ports support legacy USB
functionality.
The ports high-lighted red do not support legacy
USB mode but do function normally once the
Operating System has loaded. If a USB keyboard is
plugged into one of these USB ports, the error
message "Keyboard Error" will appear along with an
error "beep" during POST. However, the keyboard
will be available to the user once the Operating
System has loaded the driver. Legacy support to the
red ports has not yet been implemented in BIOS. It
is currently in development and will be included in
a future BIOS release.
