Updated Realtek* audio driver posted for Intel® Desktop Boards based on Intel® 915G, 915P, and 925X Chipsets
The Intel® Desktop Board team strongly recommends that customers download and utilize the latest audio driver for desktop boards based on the 915G, 915P, and 925X express chipsets. The driver includes bug fixes and functional updates to the version (5.10.00.5018) that shipped on early versions of the Intel® Express Installer CD’s for the 925X, 915P, and 915G desktop boards.
Additionally, Intel® Desktop Boards D915GAV, D915GAG, D915GEV, D915GUX, D915PSY, D915PGN, D915PCY, and D915PCM will be required to update to a new version of the Realtek ALC860 audio codec in the near future. The new version of the ALC860 codec is not compatible with the driver version (5.10.00.5018) currently shipping on the on the Express Installer CD’s. The 5.10.00.5027 audio driver (or later) is compatible with the both the existing and new ALC860 codecs. Customer’s standardizing their disk images on the boards listed above should use the 5.10.00.5027 driver (or later) to avoid potential Blue Screen issues in the future when the new codec begins shipping with the boards.
Note:Intel will release updated Intel® Express Installer CD’s for the 915G, 915P, and 925X desktop boards that include the 5.10.00.5027 (or later) audio driver prior to switching to the new version of the ALC860 codec.
