Balanced Technology Extended (BTX) in the Distribution Channel

Intel® Boxed Processors
Intel started to offer boxed processors with BTX Type I Thermal Modules in Q4, 2004 and BTX Type II Thermal Modules in Q1, 2006 in channel.

Intel® Desktop Boards
Intel started to offer microBTX and full-size BTX based boxed desktop boards in the channel in 2005 and launched the first picoBTX based board (Intel® Desktop Board D945GRW) in Q1, 2005.

Industry Enabling
Intel is engaging with a number of industry system and component suppliers to help enable the development of BTX-compliant ingredients: motherboards, chassis, power supplies and thermal modules.

The BTX Form Factor Specification and other related design collateral are available for public download from www.formfactors.org.

Intel has publicly released the BTX System Design Guide at www.formfactors.org. The System Design Guide offers engineering guidance in mechanical, structural, thermal and acoustic disciplines.
