  • When a customer brings in a defective laptop, what should I do?

Discuss the issue with the customer and attempt to duplicate the problem. If you cannot duplicate the problem, discuss the process he should be following. If you can duplicate the problem, follow the troubleshooting guidance available on the Reseller web site to identify and correct the problem. You may also contact Intel customer support for assistance.

You are not required to perform troubleshooting, but if you can identify the problem or L4 for return, you will be saving yourself both money and time and will be improving your customers' experience. Since you are paying freight-in, it is to your benefit to determine what the problem is before returning the CBB (common building block) or L4.

  • What testing does Intel do on the laptops and CBB's as a part of the program, Verified By Intel®?

Intel verifies that the ingredients on the interchangeability matrix are interchangeable within all laptops that are Verified by Intel®. The matrix includes 7 ingredient categories and a range of SKUs within each category. Besides mechanical form and fit, Intel also conducts basic electrical functionality testing on all ingredients listed in the interchangeability matrix. The full matrix of tested components is published at http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/reseller/emea/eng/products/mobile/index.htm.

The hardware vendors of the barebone laptops and the interchangeable components remain solely responsible for the design, sale and functionality of their respective products, including any liability arising from product infringement and product warranty. Intel is not warranting the products of the hardware vendors.
