Results
Tests of Dual-Core Itanium 2-based hardware against the legacy RISC system showed 40% increase in performance and cost savings against previous solution. These were immediately put to use hosting a Ministry of Education portal, which received 17 million hits in two days.
Impact
The company is migrating its entire platform to Dual-Core Intel Itanium 2 processorbased HP servers. Improvements expected to generate 40% total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction, providing flexibility to develop new services and gain more customers.
Next steps
Continue to migrate IT system to new Intel® Architecture while testing further features of Dual-Core Intel Itanium 2 processors, such as virtualisation, and the next generation of Intel® Xeon® processors.
