Intel Capital Technology Days
Bringing Emerging Technologies to Market on a Massive Scale
Intel Capital, Intel's strategic investment program, is one of the largest global corporate venture programs in the world. Its mission is to make and manage financially attractive investments that support Intel's strategic objectives.

Intel Capital works hard to help its portfolio companies develop their revenue streams. Doing so involves developing programs that put early stage companies in front of Intel customers. Intel Capital's sales programs assemble a critical mass of customer decision makers for its portfolio companies. This compresses decision cycles, reduces travel, and means that the early stage sales force can cover more ground with less effort.

Intel Capital Technology Days

Driving high-volume, high-probability, low-risk revenue opportunities between portfolio companies and industry customers

Intel Capital pioneered the Intel Capital Technology Day, an innovative format that allows pre-qualified portfolio companies and industry executives to interact, demonstrate technology, and discuss new business opportunities.

Technology Days are an enhancement to the matchmaking sessions arranged at CEO Summit. Most participating customers at CEO Summit return home planning to follow-up with several of Intel Capital's portfolio companies. To make this follow-up more efficient, Intel Capital organizes Technology Days between portfolio companies and industry customers to help find the right fit. On average, each of the companies attending a Technology Day is asked for follow-up meetings by several different teams from the hosting customer.

"It could have taken us months to try to figure out the fit. Real value-add from Intel Capital."
-Mike Klein, Interlink CEO

"Will reduce the cycles spent locating the right organizations to focus our efforts."
-Joseph Siler, Narus Sales Director

"When can you come back and do the wireless group?"
-Preston Quan, Bell Canada Wireless Strategic Director

Intel Capital Technology Day Implementation

The format is simple yet effective. In preparation, Intel taps into its close relationships with leading global customers to understand their business and IT needs. Doing so allows Intel Capital to determine which customers could benefit from the innovative technology offered by its portfolio companies.

Some key steps to execute an effective Technology Day include the following:
  • Executive sponsor at the customer determines which personnel will participate in the event.
  • Customer participants pre-screen portfolio companies and choose those that best meet their business needs.
  • Intel Capital consolidates this information and invites roughly ten portfolio companies to participate.
  • Customer indicates its needs in advance so portfolio companies can tailor their presentations for maximum effectiveness.
At the Intel Capital Technology Day, portfolio companies present their business plans and have the opportunity to participate in demo sessions. Intel executives also share their insight into the company's technology and investment strategies.

Growing Portfolio Company Revenue

Intel Capital expects to broker more than 20,000 introductions between portfolio companies and industry customers personnel this year alone. Portfolio companies benefit because they receive quick and low cost access to normally hard to reach industry executives. The opportunity to present their technology to such an exclusive audience is valuable and is a direct result of their relationship with Intel Capital.

Meeting Customer Needs While Respecting their Time

Industry customers indicate that they need to examine more emerging technologies with more precision in less time than ever before. Since Intel Capital has a rigorous investment decision process, customers save time during pre-qualification and gain access to some of the best entrepreneurs and technologies in the world.

Intel Capital presents only those portfolio companies whose products are ready for market and whose sales and support staff are equipped to deliver. This is a great way to accelerate the customer's visibility to new technologies in an efficient and effective manner.

Together with its portfolio companies, Intel Capital is helping drive innovation and growth in an increasingly connected world. For details on Intel's strategic investment program or to submit a proposal, please visit www.intel.com/capital.
