Intel Capital, Speed Up!

Richard Hsu was appointed to be the Managing Director of Intel Capital China on June 10th, 2009. Richard Hsu and his team of seven top investors, although have different background and styles, are committed to accelerate their investments in China.

A Senior Investor from the “Enlightenment Age”
1998 was regarded as the “Venture Capital Year” for China. In the same year, Helen Chiu decided to join Intel Capital. In the beginning, Helen made some great investments with her colleagues. Soon she became capable enough to invest in Asiainfo on her own. Having witnessed the economic ups and downs over the past 11 years, Helen is now the most senior people at Intel Capital.

A Local Expatriate in China
Tony Kwan and Richard Hsu joined Intel Capital one year later than Helen Chiu. In September 2004, Richard came back to China from the United States. Three months later, in cooperation with Helen Chiu, he completed his first project: Beijing Pollex. Since 2005, Tony Kwan has been a long-term resident of Hong Kong in charge of investments in mainland China, including some famous projects like Neusoft.

An Intel Veteran
Due to his familiarities with the mainland market, Christine Wu was sent from the APAC headquarter of Intel to set up the China Finance Department in 2005. At Intel, there are always opportunities. Due to Christine’s outstanding performance, she was later transferred from the Finance Department to Intel Capital. She has then successfully completed investments in New-Auto and Luckypai.

An “Invader” in Cleantech
In the beginning of 2007, Hong Rao became Prime Capital’s partner. At that time, Intel Capital was involved in the so-called 2nd generation of cleantech investment—Smart Grid, which has a perfect strategic alignment with Intel Corporation. At the end of 2007, Hong Rao joined Intel Capital and started his adventures in cleantech.

Team, New Opportunities
In September 2008, John Hsinand Kuantai Yeh left Intel Capital. David Li and Xiaoguang Sun soon filled the vacancies.

The VC industry in China has been through ups and downs during its course of development, but Intel Capital has never stopped investing in China!
