Intel Capital Technology Day hosted by Deutsche Post World Net in Germany

DHL Innovation Centre in Cologne, Germany, Sep 3, 2008 - The latest Intel Capital Technology Day was hosted by Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN) on September 3, 2008 at the DHL Innovation Centre in Cologne, Germany. The centre has been built specifically for future technologies and its objective is to develop new, marketable products from logistical future trends and to promote the environmentally-friendly design of logistical systems.

The event was a first for Intel Capital and DPWN. Intel Capital was represented by eight varying technologies which were specifically chosen from its Innovation Catalog of portfolio companies. In attendance were AeroScout, ArchRock, Cosmocom, E Ink, Lumidigm, Panorama Software, RF Code and Skyhook Wireless. The technologies from these Intel Capital portfolio companies ranged from RFID solutions to biometric scanning terminals. Each was distinctively chosen due to the related technologies that they offer (namely RFID, GPRS, Customer Management and other focus areas for high-value logistics) which match with the innovative future plans that DPWN have in the pipeline.

The event was chaired by Dr. Clemens Beckmann, Managing Director of DPWN's Global Services. Each portfolio company made a brief presentation to DPWN executives and was asked technology-specific questions about their products. There was also an opportunity for the executives to talk to each portfolio company to gain extra insight and knowledge about their technology.

The event was an overwhelming success for both DPWN and Intel Capital’s portfolio companies. The portfolio companies reported strong feedback from DPWN executives on the day of the event and are optimistic that further talks will continue in the near future.

"The Intel Capital Technology Day was an opportunity for Intel Capital to provide one of our most valued customers, Deutsche Post World Net, with an opportunity to expand their technology range and hopefully gain new networks of contact between themselves and the portfolio companies in attendance. Initial follow-up was very positive and I am confident that that networks created will continue with more exciting developments in the near future," said Detlef Poth, DPWN Global Account Director.
