JBoss Receives Investment from Intel Capital; Company Joins Matrix Partners and Accel Partners as Investors

Atlanta, Ga. May 10, 2004 - Agreement With Intel Corporation to Facilitate J2EE Certification, Optimization on Intel(R) Architecture and Expand Market Opportunities for Professional Open Source

JBoss(R), Inc., provider of the most popular Java(TM) application server, today announced that Intel Capital, Intel's strategic investment program, has invested in JBoss, rounding out the company's recent $10 million venture financing from Matrix Partners and Accel Partners. In addition, a new agreement with Intel Corporation provides JBoss with hardware resources and expertise to complete J2EE(TM) certification on the Intel(R) Itanium(R) and Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors for optimal performance and scalability.

As a result of these agreements, Intel is the newest JBoss J2EE Certification Founders Program member, which also includes Borland Software Corporation, IONA(R), SchlumbergerSema, Sonic Software, Unisys and webMethods.

"The momentum behind JBoss continues increasing rapidly, and Intel's global presence will further accelerate our opportunities. The Intel Architecture is already in wide use among our ISV partners and customers," said Marc Fleury, CEO, JBoss. "With J2EE certification progressing smoothly, this new influx of funding, resources and expertise will help us complete that initiative. JBoss also sees our agreement with Intel as a strategic move in line with our goal of cultivating a growing number of collaborative relationships with leading hardware vendors."

Together with the funds from Matrix and Accel, the new investment will be used to strengthen JBoss' already profitable balance sheet and to support product development, infrastructure build-out and marketing.
