Σ When installing two processors, both processors must be from the same processor series; either two Intel® Xeon® processors 5500 series or two Intel® Xeon® processors 5600 series. Out of the box support for the Intel Xeon processor 5600 series will be indicated by the addition of the letter "R" at the end of the product order code. For boards and systems currently supporting the Intel Xeon processor 5500 series, a BIOS update is required before installing the 5600 series processors. Select the support tab above for more information.
◊1 No computer system can provide absolute security under all conditions. Intel® Trusted Execution Technology requires a computer system with Intel® Virtualization Technology, an Intel TXT-enabled processor, chipset, BIOS, Authenticated Code Modules and an Intel TXT-compatible measured launched environment (MLE). The MLE could consist of a virtual machine monitor, an OS or an application. In addition, Intel TXT requires the system to contain a TPM v1.2, as defined by the Trusted Computing Group, and specific software for some uses. For more information, see www.intel.com/technology/security/.
◊2 The original equipment manufacturer must provide TPM functionality, which requires a TPM-supported BIOS. TPM functionality must be initialized and may not be available in all countries.
◊3 Intel® Virtualization Technology requires a computer system with an enabled Intel® processor, BIOS, virtual machine monitor (VMM) and, for some uses, certain platform software enabled for it. Functionality, performance or other benefits will vary depending on hardware and software configurations and may require a BIOS update. Software applications may not be compatible with all operating systems. Please check with your application vendor.
