Intel IT plans to begin enterprise–wide deployment of Microsoft Windows 7* on PCs with Intel® vPro™ technology in early 2010. Intel IT worked closely with Microsoft to perform early evaluation of the OS and ultimately found that Microsoft Windows 7* overwhelmingly met our requirements. In addition, we determined that the best performance and manageability is provided by deploying Microsoft Windows 7* on new PCs with Intel® vPro™ technology.

The demos show how Intel vPro technology can be used 1) to upgrade solid state drive software, 2) to remotely upgrade an operating system, and 3) to perform a remote reset of an encryption password.

Intel IT has begun to deploy up to 10,000 notebooks with solid-state drives (SSDs) instead of hard disk drives (HDD) this year. Following an evaluation, Intel IT found significant benefits from using SSDs including reductions in IT support costs and improvements in user productivity.

Intel IT has been implementing a service-based architecture over the last few years to improve the responsiveness of enterprise solutions while reducing development time and development costs.
